Shiralea Backpackers was established in 2007 as a subsidiary of The English Village Co. Ltd, a Thai/Western business fronted by Resort Director Narong Plubluengsri, who has 25+ years of experience in the hotel and catering industry, both in Europe and Dubai (head chef at 5* Meridian Hotel) and on Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. Narong's daughter Khrun Chonlada is also on the team as our hotel and catering manager.
The name comes from a popular TV show featured SHIRALEA - a beautiful world inhabited by a colonial group of free-spirits concerned only with love and pleasure. Shiralea is famed for its mud baths and it's concept of "Laughing Hour". Artists and poets live there. It is guarded by wild dancers and only those who are glad of heart may enter ... here, music, strength, life and all pleasurable pursuits come together in a single place.
